So I have something interesting to share with you today. It has to do with generating ideas for business.
As a business guru that you are, I’m sure you know that there are different ways to get a useful idea for business. Just in case you’re thinking about expanding your business, or doing something totally different, let me be of help to you.
Here are five ways to generate ideas that can be turned into a profitable business.
-
Focus on your interests
We all have more than one interest, and many talents. Think of something that interests you in areas such as education, sports, food, events, personal experience, etc, which can be marketable, and developed into a business. How about sharing your talents or teach something for profit? That something is easy for you doesn’t mean it’s easy for others. Can you teach a language or offer catering services? Think about it!
-
Write out your “Pain Points”
Pain points are issues that cause you concern. These could be problems in your surroundings, the society or the system that you are worried about, and need to be solved. It is possible to generate an idea to deal with matters in the society. Ever thought about providing cleaning services, babysitting or daycare services? Again, think of a solution, deal with the issues, and make money from it
-
Ask Questions
Everyone has ideas, but not everyone is interested in starting a business. Well, you are a business person, how about you ask family and friends for business ideas? Have a discussion with people, including your customers. Listen to their issues or situations that they’re uncomfortable with. Could it be about delivery services or meal planning? You could find a solution and develop something productive.
Read this carefully: If it weren’t for Steve Jobs’ good friend, Steve Wozniak, there would be no Apple today. Just imagine that! Don’t disregard those around you. There are potential business ideas floating around us.

Are you a reader? No? Please become one! Reading improves our creativity and thinking skills. Take a look at articles, interviews and books on business, and those written by A-list entrepreneurs and business experts. You gain a lot of knowledge and can unlock new ideas.
-
Travel
Finally, travelling and visiting new places helps us see things differently. It could be another city or country. Explore and notice how other regions are unique to what you’re used to. What works there that you would like in your own country or city? You could get an innovative idea.
