FOUR PEOPLE YOU SHOULD NEVER HIRE

Just as a business needs a steady stream of customers to become profitable, a steady, well rounded and effective team is just as necessary. We hear about recruitment challenges all the time from our members. That’s why we have compiled a list of 4 types of people you should never hire.

Check on it below!

In it for the wrong reasons- they answer all the questions right and the interview seems to be going well…until you ask them why they want to work for you. Their answer shows they know nothing about your business and just need something to bide time. As a start-up, you need a team that buys into your business and your long term vision not people who want to use it as a bus stop on the way to another location.

People who know every excuse in the book- they turned up late for the interview, didn't complete the pre-assessment test they were meant to bring to the interview and forgot to bring their credentials. The reasons they give will range from... They live far away, their uncle is sick, their alarm didn’t ring, they forgot…the excuses might ring true but you need staff that will be consistent and dependable.

The one with an attitude problem- no matter how comfortable you try to make them feel at the interview, they have a permanent frown. They look upset, almost like it was a waste of time coming for the interview and answer questions from their 'nose'. People like this may end up being the wrong culture fit for your organisation, making the working environment toxic for you, other team mates and even customers.

The CV Forger- never take the information on a prospective employee for granted. Ask them detailed information on the experience they claim to have. Make sure you also check references (more than one is usually best) to ascertain that they are the right fit for your company.
